Above & Beyond Survey 2010
The information below lists results from the 2010 ABOVE & BEYOND survey. The ABOVE & BEYOND survey is distributed annually throughout the WNY community. This survey is used to help Parent Network learn what parents and our community identify as needs, concerns, and best arrangements for receiving our services. 460 people responded in 2010. Thank you to all who responded!
The results of this year’s ABOVE & BEYOND survey will help Parent Network provide more relevant and accessible services to the community.
· We are pleased to continue to offer information and education on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through our collaboration with CASE: Center for Autism Support and Education by offering a variety of workshops to help families and professionals better understand ASD (see Workshop Calendar for upcoming CASE workshops).
· Through our recently awarded Opening Doors Project, we will be able provide educational workshops, information and resources to health care providers across Western New York on programs and services available in the community for individuals with special needs.
· Through our Information & Referral Services we will continue to link families and individuals with information and resources that they are looking for about disabilities, community resources and services available.
· We will begin to offer select workshops online (viewable from our website) to families who are not able to attend due to barriers.

- Better understanding of the psychological report- such as, what test scores mean, what can invalidate scores, how do they control for test being skewed by features of disability, what is the difference between psych and nuero psych, etc.
- Lean how to guide or help teenager/ young adult with daily and occasional stress and how to deal with situations now and in the future.
- Behavior supports, communication supports, total communication approaches for autism spectrum disorders; more advanced autism training and social skills
- Future planning and activities for adults? Are there more programs available after high school? What options exist for living arrangements?
- What do you do when you feel you have done all you can? Where do you go from there?
- How to effectively have the schools meet their obligations
