Opening Doors Project: Bridging the Gap between Health Care Providers and Families

(June 2010)

Parent Network is proud to announce the Opening Doors Project. This project is committed to ensuring that health care professionals are knowledgeable about eligibility requirements for services through the Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD) and other community resources available to individuals with developmental disabilities throughout WNY.
Opening Doors will provide training, educational resources and community outreach to health care providers and families of individuals with developmental disabilities. Services will include: educational workshops, information and referral services, and staff in-services training. Opening Doors will also provide assistance to individuals and their families through a monthly support group.
Parent Network will be collaborating with the Early Childhood Direction Center (ECDC) to provide these services.
The Opening Doors project is funded by a grant awarded by the NYS OMRDD Family Support Services.
