Parent Network of WNY is a not-for-profit agency that provides education and resources for families of individuals with special needs (birth through adulthood) and for professionals.

Parent Network of WNY provides 1-on-1 Support and education through resources, workshops and support groups to assist families of individuals with disabilities to understand their disability and navigate the support service system.

The majority of Parent Network of WNY’s staff and board members are parents of children with disabilities, which provides a unique perspective, personal experience and empathy to the families we reach. Since the reorganization in 2001, Parent Network of WNY has served around 10,000 people a year.

The Early Childhood Professional Development Specialist will work with the Family and Community Engagement Team under the direction of New York State Education Department (NYSED), in consultation with the Regional Partnership Center to provide a combination of regional training and support, targeted professional development and technical assistance, build capacity of educators and families, serve as a member of the Regional Level and Statewide Team and provide information and resources to upload to NYSED website. Masters degree required.

Eligibility Navigator

The Eligibility Navigator is responsible for establishing a professional and supportive relationship for parents/ families who contact Parent Network seeking information and/or assistance on behalf of their child with a developmental disability to obtain OPWDD Eligibility.   This person will conduct an initial screening to determine parent/child needs and the most appropriate service response.  This includes services provided directly by Parent Network as well as services provided by OPWDD and community agencies.  A key component of this role will be to assist the parents to confirm the eligibility of their child for OPWDD services, including helping them gather required documentation, and working with the DDRO Eligibility Department through the Eligibility Determination Process, and linking them to a Care Coordination Organization (CCO) of their choice.
