Advocacy is important because it draws attention to the causes most important to us.
As the New York State Legislature begins its work in Albany, the New York Alliance for Inclusion and Innovation is well positioned, and prepared, to represent the interests of New York’s not-for-profit disabilities agencies.
The State Assembly and State Senate will convene on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Session runs through the first week in June. The State Legislature plans to be in Albany for 60 days in that 6-month period. All other days, members will be working in their respective district offices.
Between January and June, we’ll advocate for our issues, pieces of legislation that impact the I/DD sector and items for inclusion in the New York State Budget.
Effective advocacy will be the key to successfully influencing policymakers and lawmakers on our issues in the 2022 Legislative Session. Our power is grassroots, and we use this type of collective action as it’s inclusive, it’s participatory, it’s genuine and it ensures that all voices are heard.
The New York Alliance for Inclusion and Innovation is proud to be a strong partner in our statewide disabilities advocacy and is pleased to share a comprehensive resource for disabilities advocates to successfully engage in advocacy in New York State.
