The Service Collaborative of WNY provides opportunities for all individuals to serve their communities, challenging them to turn their ideals into action and their passion into positive change.
Parent Network is delighted to welcome Jean Cosenza – our AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) member! As part of her one-year term of service, Jean is aiding Parent Network to focus in the areas of expanding/strengthening partnerships, outreach and program development and delivery. While her contributions are of great value to Parent Network, the VISTA member in turn gains experience that can be put to use in the future. About 150 full-time VISTA’s are serving in Western New York.
The goals of the AmeriCorps Vista project at Parent Network are to increase community support and to assist Military and Veteran families with children with special needs. The results of the plan will enable families to learn about special education rules, roles and responsibilities; services available outside of school; and support for family members by Parent Network and the community.
Jean has a M.S. in Counseling Psychology. She loves spending time with her family and is a Volunteer Firefighter.
